There are 37 species of foxes, but only 12 belong to the genus “vulpes” or “true foxes”. The best known of them are: Red Fox, Arctic Fox, Kit Fox, Fennec Fox, and the Gray Fox. - Red Fox
The largest species of fox is known as the Red Fox. It is also the one most people are familiar with. They do have a gorgeous red coloring to them where their name comes from. - Gray Fox
One of the larger species of fox is known as the Gray Fox. They get the name due to the various shades of gray coloring they feature. They also have black on their bodies and areas of white. - Arctic Fox
The Arctic Fox definitely gets attention out there due to the color it offers. In the winter months it is white so that it blends in very well with the snow all around it. - Fennec Fox
The Fennec Fox is extremely small in size, and it has extremely large ears for such a small animal. The tail is very long too, and it extends the size of about ¾ of the overall body size. - Kit Fox
The Kit Fox has a very different body style with a slender body. It has a large head with very large ears. It also has a long tail with bushy fur on it. This fox is gray in color and the tip of the tail is black. - Swift Fox
The Swift Fox is a small species and one that is gorgeous to look at. The coloring is a shade of light brown with various colors of orange on it. They also have areas of white and black on their bodies.
